BlueSaab v6.x uses STM32 micro controller, therefore it needs a slightly different flashing approach. Check out this topic and use latest 6.1.1 firmware.

Hope this helps.

That is expected. LED1 turns on only when there's an actual firmware running on the module. Since there's no firmware on the module yet, LED1 won't turn on.

In order to put module in bootloader mode:
1. Turn the module on
2. Press and hold BOOT0 button
3. While holding BOOT0 button press and release RESET button
4. Release BOOT0 button
5. The module should accept firmware flash now

It looks like your port is not recognized/set. It should be "COM (some number)".

Ok, let's take a few steps back. What kind of interface are you using to flash this module? It should be UART. When you connect that to your PC, your PC should recognize it as a COM port. What do you get in Device Manager under "Ports"? There should be a COM port listed.

If it shows up under "Other devices" I believe that means the driver is not up and running (installed) for particular device yet. COM1 is the default port as far as I know. I'm not a MS Windows guy myself. :)

1. Open up Demonstrator GUI app and select desired settings:

2. Perform the "Buttons actions" (hold BOOT0, press and release RESET, release BOOT), then click Next
3. You should now see this screen; click Next

4. You should now see this screen; click Next

5. You should now see this screen; pick "Download to device" and then pick .bin file from your file system; click Next

6. Flashing in progress...

7. Flashing finished

8. Congrats, you are done!

When I try to do the "buttons" action, nothing happens. The power LED is lit up red as soon as I connect the FTDI cable, but nothing else happens. Any ideas?

Can you elaborate on "nothing happens" a bit more? When the red LED comes up you should be able to do buttons actions to push the module into bootloader mode unless there's a hardware issue with the buttons (loose contact).

Okay, this is really dumb but I think I misunderstood the directions. It's even dumber because I've had 2 of these sitting around for probably 6+ months now and hadn't flashed them because I couldn't figure it out. It looks like I just got the first one flashed without any issues! I'll have to test it out in my car but hopefully it'll work out okay. Thanks!

Just got everything connected and it works! Thanks so much!!!

I'd also recommend pinning that tutorial you just wrote up, its possible you already posted it elsewhere but I wasn't able to find instructions that good anywhere and so I kind of gave up for a while. So glad Edma asked about it and I saw this post!

Also just a weird experience I had during the installation (03 9-5 Linear, with AS2 audio). I purchased the CD changer wiring harness kit from Seth on eBay, but when I went to connect it I noticed that the connectors in my trunk didn't match up 100%. The 6 pin connector was the same, but the pinout didn't match. I used some pin removal tools and repinned that so the wires matched up properly. Then for the 2-pin connector, the connector types were different from the car side to the harness side.

Now that everything's wired up properly though it works great on initial testing. I can't imagine how much time you guys spent on this and really appreciate it!
