Thoughts on OTA updates

Pilkerton
I'm sure that Over-The-Air firmware updates are high on the (long) list of desirable features, but I was wondering if a shortcut might be to integrate one of those cheap ESP8266 modules, since others have already done this (i.e. flashing Arduino over Wi-Fi).

Technically it should be possible with the help of RN52. By default it is in SPP (Serial Peripheral Profile) mode and only when we send a steering wheel or IHU button event, it goes into CMD mode to handle the command and send out an action over AVRCP to the audio source.

The possibilities are there, we just need to find time to work on them amongst all the bugs that need to be fixed first. :)

So in theory, yes, you could use one of those Bluetooth TTL devices (I've never used one but that would be awesome). You couldn't use the ftdi interface 100%, as the 5v pin is strictly for powering the bluesaab (it won't be able to power anything from that pin) but you could find another 3.3v source to power the ttl adapter.

Firmware updates...I think if you had this setup, you could do it via the UART with firmware 1.16...yet another thing to add to the list :)
