Since I run a different platform and a different IDE I can't make sure that it would compile for you. I've published my code (link above) so you are welcome to copy relevant parts.

Basically I do the following:
setup fixed parts of the message arrays during init
When calling display I update the message arrays and request write access to the display.
When I receive a display request from the IHU I send my own display request.
When I get display resource granted I send the message arrays.

Let me know if you need anything else explained.
Just let me know if you need anything explained. Only cdc.c is relevant for display functions.
